I never forget what someone said to me when I set up my business as a Life Coach specializing in helping people change harmful habits such as drinking.

“You know you are committing career suicide, right”?

The first part of healing for me was coming clean and being honest about my relationship with alcohol, I was excessively drinking and it was negatively impacting my life.

By coming clean about how I struggled with alcohol and how my corporate career has contributed to that addiction, it was ending my professional career.  I was told that I would not be successful with clients and that there was no place in the corporate sector for someone that does not drink, how do you build client relationships, how do you gain that sale?

Its still amazes me to that that there are such strong beliefs that alcohol and business mix. The truth is that drinking negatively affects your job performance by decreasing your ability to focus and your productivity. Trust me, your boss, your business partner, your colleagues, your clients do not want their success in the hands of someone who drinks excessively.

Anyway back to the career suicide question, I’m not going to lie, it scared me, it was hard being honest, I may be judged differently, but I think I ended up doing ok.  I started healing myself, serving and contributing to others and living my best life ever.  Things are actually looking alright, was it worth coming clean, hell yes!

If drinking is holding you back from achieving the results you want in life, then I can help you with an intensive 30, 60 and 90 day coaching programs where I will be 100% committed to your goal and part of your team to help you achieve your goal, whether this is to cut back, quit for good, or create new inspiration for recovery.
